Hitler Saved Germany? - Notesworthy #1
Facts don't always tell the truth
I’m always saying that facts don’t always tell the Truth. Conventional/Traditional media know this very well. They always spin or rewrap facts in a way that tells the story they want to tell. That story may be based on facts, but that doesn’t mean it’s a true story. It could just be a fairy tale, leeching credibility and legitimacy from the facts—if we trust facts, we’ll trust the conclusion, even if it’s a false one.
I saw this today in a post I responded to on Substack Notes. The note and my response are below.
My Response
Hitler pulled Germany out of a serious economic depression and also acquired some “elbow room” for Germany but he did it through fear and domination, which resulted in the Nazi war machine, the SS and Gestapo, ultimately leading to mass murder, subjugation, mass-destruction and Germany’s ultimate fall, highlighted by the splitting of the country by the Berlin Wall.
People saying “Hitler saved Germany” are narrow-minded con artists who want others to see a limitation of fact, but not the Truth. The Hitler that “rescued Germany” is the same Hitler that lead it to its destruction. Same Hitler, same influence, same mind.
Our Lord said that the devil is the father of lies; a liar and a murderer from the beginning.
(“From the beginning it was not so” “In the beginning, there was light” - I’m going to talk about this “beginning”, the eternal and the finite, in a later post over at Stoking the Embers)
This deceptive tactic that we see in media, and adopted with mastery by many on social media and independent commentary comes from the father of lies. He very often tempts us with facts, but not with Truth. Just as he tempted Jesus in the desert with Scripture that was “fact” but distorting it to mean something that it didn’t (Facts, not the Truth).
To tell a lie through facts is a diabolic tactic and its presence all throughout modern human communication tells me that the human order has largely given its collective mind over to the dark side. “You are sons of satan and you do your father’s work”.
It isn’t just about politics, geopolitical philosophy, or economics. This giving over of the mind is why everything wrong in the world is the way it is. What we do in our minds, we express from our wills. The opposite effect is also true. Have a disciplined mind that can discern Truth, fill it with the Good, True and Beautiful, elevate it to the Eternal, have frequent contact with God through prayer and the sacraments. When we do this, the acts of our wills follow and we bring goodness and the light of God into a world that needs it; our homes and families, our neighbors and communities, and outward to the larger world.
It’s a beautiful world, it really is. God made it so. See past the haze of rhetoric and lies that are all over modern media (social or conventional) and focus on what’s beautiful about the world, and about living in it.
